Dealing with the Bad Apple

For professors who assign small group work, how do get your students to deal with the “bad apple” that can derail the whole project?  Research shows that the “bad apple phenomenon” is real, and whether it be in a large classroom discussion or a small group project, such individuals can ruin the quality of cooperative work.

One tool may be to get our students to identify the behavior and call it out for what it is.

  1. Listen to the WHOLE Prologue . . . there’s a section part-way through where Glass talks about the rest of the program, and it’s easy to think the Felps interview is done. The best part follows!
